PG Medical Exams likely to be scraped, Maharashtra government urges cancellation
Maharashtra Government decided to scrap all Final-year University exams including PG Medical Exams due to the severe spread of the novel coronavirus in the state.
Final Year PG Medical Exams likely to be scrapped in Maharashtra like other University Final-Year exams amid increasing COVID-19 positive cases in the state. While informing Bombay High Court that it cannot permit the ICSE Board to conduct the pending exams in the state, the state government also decided to scrap all final year exams in the state universities too. Recently CM Uddhhav Thackarey sent a letter to PM Modi regarding cancellation of Final year PG exams in Maharashtra Medical colleges.

PG Medical Exams likely to be cancelled
In the letter, Mr Thackarey requested PM to direct the medical council of India to postpone the exams to be conducted by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, MUHS, Nashik. These PG Medical exams were to commence from July 15, 2020.
According to the chief minister the state of Maharashtra is worse hit by the novel coronavirus with constantly increasing COVID-19 positive patients. He also informed the Prime Minister that the medical graduates are presently involved in managing the heavy number of patients in the state hospitals and the conduction of the exams would lead to a shortage of trained doctors in the state.

The letter also added that the entrance tests for super specialty courses must be conducted after the final year exams of PG students. The students are now waiting for the final decision on the conduct of exams and wish to end their dilemma.
Considering the rise of the novel coronavirus cases in the state, the Government of Maharashtra took the decision to scrap the exams of university final year students and the ICSE Board exams. Vandana Krishna, the additional chief secretary of the school education department conveyed to the advocate general that the state stands firm on its decision not to conduct school exams and the same decision is taken in respect of University exams.
Meanwhile, following the decision of the Supreme Court on CBSE exam dates, NTA is expected to give some clarity on NEET exam date 2020. Experts suggest that NEET 2020 is likely to be postponed.
The tweets and letter came after the medical education department statement, “The MED GoM decides to hold exams for medical, AYUSH and other MUHS Courses. Direct Directorate of Medical Education Research and MUHS to publish timetable 45 days before the date of exams and a day's gap between each of the papers."
