Aditya Thackeray inaugurates new building of 1st Medical College in Mumbai Suburbs

Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray has inaugurated the new building of the 1st medical college in Mumbai suburbs - Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College at the Dr R.N. Cooper Hospital campus.
Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray has unveiled Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College at the Dr RN Cooper Hospital campus. It is the new building of the first medical college in the Mumbai suburbs.
Aaditya Thackeray's tweet reads, "Inaugurated the new building of the 1st Medical College in Mumbai Suburbs - Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College at the Dr R.N. Cooper Hospital campus. This building will nurture MBBS & PG students to further strengthen our medical infrastructure."
"As a Guardian Minister, it is a moment of pride to have a dedicated medical education facility in the suburbs that will groom future doctors, nurses & medical staff and also help bridge the gap between the doctor-patient ratio in BMC hospitals," he said.
"The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has five medical colleges in Mumbai, probably the only municipal corporation to have so, in India," he added.
Maharashtra govt chalks out expansion plan for medical education
The state government has chalked out an expansion plan for medical education. The government is all set to add 1600 MBBS seats in 16 districts including the suburban Mumbai and Thane to increase the post-graduate and super-speciality courses, as reported by TOI.
"The plan is to enhance quality healthcare services in regions where it is not available or are inadequate, so that they do not rush to big cities for treatment," said Dr Avinash Supe, former director of BMC hospitals.
