Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that all private and government schools in the state will remain closed today in view of the 77th Independence Day celebrations.

All schools in Haryana to remain closed today

All schools in Haryana are closed today as the holiday was declared by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The state government announced on Tuesday that both government and private schools within the state will remain closed on Wednesday, due to the observance of Independence Day festivities.

The Haryana education department issued instructions to all district education officers and district elementary education officers across the state regarding this matter.

“On the occasion of 77th Independence Day celebrations, the Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar declared a holiday on August 16, 2023 for all schools in Haryana,” the CMO wrote on Twitter.

The CM also expressed confidence that the state will surpass all other states in terms of development by 2047. The people of Haryana should forget social, religious and communal differences, and maintain harmony, Khattar said on Tuesday and asserted that "we consider the people of the entire state our family", he said, as reported by Hindustan Times.

In July, clashes broke out in Haryana's Nuh district after a procession of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) was attacked by mobs, and it spread to adjoining areas, including Gurugram. Six people, including two home guards and a cleric, died in the violence.

"We consider the people of the entire state our family. The day we assumed the responsibility of 'Jan Sewa' in the year 2014, our aim became to protect the interests of every Haryanvi," the chief minister said. Equal development of all citizens and areas has been the priority, he added.
