Several Universities, colleges have come forward to participate in Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. The event is part of the celebration of the 75th independence day celebration pan India.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur today launched a nationwide event of Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, to celebrate the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. The event has been launched at 75 locations and will conclude on October 2. The Fit India programme aims to encourage people to take care of their health by taking up several fitness activities such as running and sports to achieve freedom from obesity, anxiety, stress, laziness and several other diseases. 

Several colleges and Universities also came forward to be a part of the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav celebration pan India. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will conduct Fit India Movement Freedom Run 2.0 offline tomorrow; i.e. on August 14.  This is an initiative taken in view of the Prime Minister's vision for a fitter country, says a statement by IIT Bombay. The institute will be conducting the event adhering to the COVID-19 protocols, with not more than 100 people participating for the same.

Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) organised the ‘Fit India Freedom Run 2.0’ at the campus as part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate 75th year of the Independence of India. Several students including the cadets and volunteers of NCC & NSS and staff members of the university participated in the run.

On the occasion of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, University of Delhi remember the freedom fighter and martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for our country. The University of Delhi officials along with the cadets from NCC units cleaned the statues of freedom fighters and paid homage to them. Prof.P.C. Joshi, Acting Vice-chancellor of DU and Dr.Vikas Gupta, Registrar, DU placed wreaths on the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on behalf of the University fraternity.

Sikkim University also organised the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav 'Vande Mataram'. State Education Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha graced the occassion with his presence.  

A three-day Shehnai festival was launched today at Banaras Hindu University campus as part of the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.
