The state government is planning to create a WhatsApp group for each school including teachers and students.
The outbreak of the novel coronavirus followed by multiple phases of nationwide lockdowns ruptured the academic activities in the country. The academic institutions and decision-makers are thriving to come up with various ways to impart education and prevent the academic loss of the students. Becoming a part of such initiative, the Andhra Pradesh government is mulling to impart educational content for Class 10 students through social media platforms, WhatsApp. According to the reports, the state government is planning to create a WhatsApp group for each school including teachers and students.
The reports also suggest that the teachers will post important practice questions on TV/radio lessons daily on the WhatsApp groups and students will have to write the answers and send photos of their answer sheets. Feedback would be shared with the students by the teachers after evaluating the sheets.
The state government shifted to online classes soon after the imposition of the COVID-19 lockdown. According to the data released by the government, around 24,000 students and 933 teachers take part in these online classes. Teachers upload lecturers on YouTube and share it with the students. Notes are shared through WhatsApp and email.
Students are also encouraged by the teachers to use government developed Abhyasa to access videos pooled from Dhiksha and solve objective type question papers. AP government is also planning to formulate a similar kind of pattern for junior classes in June and July. For students of higher education institutes, teachers are putting complete effort to wind up the pending syllabus. Approximately, 5979 classes are organized online for the college and university students.
Meanwhile, State’s Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh and the Board of Secondary Education Andra Pradesh (BSEAP) confirmed on May 11 that AP SSC Exam 2020 will be conducted in July and not June. The decision to conduct the AP 10th Exams in July is taken to give students enough time to study.
