Delhi schools will not be reopened to conduct the theory or practical exams in the offline mode and no student will be called in-person to submit any assignments or appear for examinations.
The Delhi government has clarified that schools will not reopen to conduct CBSE practical or theoretical exams 2021 in offline mode. Also, students will not be called to schools to submit any assignment.
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued directions that schools will not be reopened for any other academic or non-academic activities. It said, “Students of any class would not be called physically in the school for mid-term exams, pre-board exams, annual exams, board exams, practical exams, project work, internal assessment or any other academic or non-academic activities”.
Schools can conduct online or semi-online teaching activities including uploading of marks pre-board examinations. However, Delhi school principals can take a call regarding calling the teachers and other faculty members to conduct online classes or complete any exam-related activities. They will be required to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Government of India or Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi.
On this decision, the General Secretary of Government School Teachers Association, Delhi Ajay Veer Yadav had complained about certain school principals forcing the teachers to attend the school. He said, “Various school teachers have been forced to come to school and were found COVID positive. Most of the Delhi schools do not have internet facilities, hence it does not make sense to force the teachers to conduct online classes from the school premises”.
Earlier, Delhi government had allowed the students of Class 9 to 12 to attend schools for practical classes and appear for mid-term, pre-board, annual, and board exams. Later, the schools had to be shut amid a spike in COVID cases in the state.
