Maharashtra HSC Exams 2021: Students urge government to cancel Class 12th Board exams in state

A few days after the Maharashtra state government announced the cancellation of SSC exams, HSC students are now requesting a similar relief.

Maharashtra HSC Exams 2021: After the Maharashtra government announced the cancellation of Class 10^th exams in the state, students of Mah HSC are now requesting similar relief. Several students of Class 10^th have taken to social media requesting that HSC exams be cancelled in view of the surge in COVID19 cases and the resultant lockdown in the state.

The Maharashtra Students Welfare Association wrote to state education minister Varsha Gaikwad to look into alternate methods of assessment and cancel Mah HSC offline exams. They wrote, “HSC exams have already been postponed several times. In the coming days, if the situation worsens, postponement or conduct of offline exams will not be a good option.” It may result in risking the health and safety of children.

Students have requested the education board to consider alternate methods of assessments, such as internal assessments, online exams, or promoting all students to the next class without exams.

Over 1.7 million students write Maharashtra SSC exams in the state every year while around 1.5 million appear for HSC exams. According to a board official, “It’ll be easy for the state boards to cancel the Class 12^th or HSC exams if CBSE decides to do the same.” Several state boards have decided to follow CBSE for cancelling and postponement of exams.
