Vocational education has been made compulsory in the educational curriculum from class 6 onward in NEP 2020
Central Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will work to seamlessly integrate academia, industry, policymakers and society.
Pradhan said that these four pillars will have to strive together for maximum economic output and demographic dividend.
“Vocational education has been made compulsory in the educational curriculum from class 6 onward in NEP 2020,” Education Minister said talking about the importance of integrating skills with education.
He said that the National Education Policy will play an important role in increasing the employability of youth, making them skilled according to the 21st century.
In the National Education Policy 2020, there is a provision to link kindergarten and education with skill development and vocational training.
Pradhan highlighted that special emphasis has been laid on learning in the mother tongue at the foundation stage for children in the age group of 3 to 8 years to encourage creative thinking, logical judgment and innovation.
“It is the priority of all of us to connect the skilled workforce of Eastern India and about 53 crore population of 3 to 23 years in the country with new and ample opportunities for job-oriented education, skill development and entrepreneurship for demographic dividend and balanced economic development,” the Education Minister said.
