As results are delayed due to the nationwide lockdown imposed in the wake of the novel coronavirus spread, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) allowed schools to go for the next academic session by giving students provisional admission in classes 6 and 9.

As results are delayed due to the nationwide lockdown imposed in the wake of the novel coronavirus spread, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) allowed schools to go for the next academic session by giving students provisional admission in classes 6 and 9. The decision was taken when various school authorities started approaching PSEB regarding fresh admissions to class 6 and 9, as the results for classes 5 and 8 are yet to be released.

The official circular released by the Punjab Board regarding the class 5 results states, β€˜It has been clarified by the board that though the board has taken some decision with regard to class 5 examinations as two of the papers could not be conducted and results shall be declared based on the performance of the students in the remaining three papers, however, the formal declaration of results is likely to take more time.’

The circular further stated, β€˜Keeping in this view, the students of class 5 who had appeared in the examination may be admitted in class 6 provisionally.’ Similarly, PSEB asked schools to provisionally admit students of class 8 in class 9.

Meanwhile, due to the inability to conduct exams amid the prevailing health crisis, the Punjab government decided to promote students of class 5 and 8 on the basis of their performance in the exams that were conducted.

Two papers of PSEB class 5 and practical exams of class 8 got postponed due to the outbreak of COVID-19. In an official release, PSEB said, β€œThe cabinet minister said that PSEB has conducted three examinations of class 5 before the imposition of curfew and now the cabinet has decided to cancel the remaining two papers. He added that in the case of class 8, the practical examinations were pending but now the board would declare the results without conducting any further examinations for both the classes.”

Meanwhile, PSEB 10th and PSEB 12th pending exams are yet to be conducted. The Punjab board will release PSEB 10th exam dates and PSEB 12th date sheet 2020 for pending exams after reviewing the condition once the lockdown ends.
