Tamil Nadu announces school admission dates; says all coronavirus protocol must be followed

Tamil Nadu to start the admission process for Classes 1 to 10 from August 17 and Classes 11 and 12 from August 28. Read further to know more.

Tamil Nadu School Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan has announced that the admission for Classes 1 to 10 in the state will start from August 17 and for Classes 11 and 12 from August 28.  Admissions for students joining Classes 1, 6 and 9 will be done on priority and will start from August 17, he said, adding that students from other classes moving to another school can also be given admission from the same date. 

He further said that during the admission process, schools must ensure that all social distancing and disinfection norms related to COVID-19 are followed, during the process. Admissions into higher secondary schools shall start on August 24, the minister added. Schools must ensure to distribute books and other study materials to the students on the same day to avoid gathering once again.

In government schools, free books and uniforms shall be given to students during admissions. Further, admissions under the Right to Education Act too shall start from August 17, the minister said.
