Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu conducts TN 10^th examinations every year. Students who have passed their Class 9 from a recognised education board and have studied Class 10 from a school affiliated to DGE, TN can apply to appear for TN SSLC exam. TN SSLC Pattern 2026

As per the Tamilnadu 10^th exam pattern 2026, a student needs to secure at least a minimum of 35% in the examinations in order to clear them. while the languages papers (Tamil, English, etc) have two papers each, the others including Mathematics, Social Science, among others have only paper each. • Physics: Light (refraction, lenses, mirrors), Electricity and circuits, Electromagnetic induction, Nuclear physics (fission, fusion, radioactivity), Acoustics and sound
• Chemistry: Periodic classification of elements, Chemical reactions and types, Acids, bases and salts, Carbon and its compounds, Water and air
• Biology: Nutrition in plants and animals, Respiration and excretion, Control and co-ordination (nervous system, hormones), Reproduction in plants and animals, Heredity and genetics, Ecosystem and biodiversity

Social Science Syllabus

• History: World War I and II, Global events in the 20th century, Indian independence movement, Post-independence India, Tamil Nadu history and culture
• Geography: Physical features of India, Climate zones and monsoons, Natural resources (water bodies, forests, minerals, soils), Disaster management
• Civics: Indian Constitution — Preamble and Fundamental Rights, Democratic governance, Local self-government (Panchayati Raj), Centre-State relations
• Economics: Money and banking, National income and economic growth, Government budget and fiscal policy, Consumer protection and rights

English Syllabus

• Prose: Reading comprehension from prescribed textbook chapters
• Poetry: Understanding and critical appreciation of prescribed poems
• Supplementary Reader: Questions from supplementary reading passages
• Grammar: Tenses, parts of speech, voice, narration, transformation of sentences, articles, prepositions, question tags
• Writing Skills: Formal and informal letter writing, essay, paragraph, dialogue, and notice writing

Tamil (Language I) Syllabus

• Kavithai (Poetry): Classic and modern Tamil poems from the prescribed textbook
• Iyal Nilai (Prose): Comprehension questions from Tamil prose passages
• Ilakkanam (Grammar): Tamil grammar rules — sentence structure, idioms, proverbs, and word formation
• Ezhuthu (Writing): Essay writing, letter writing, and creative writing in Tamil
