Tamil Nadu government will be opening all the government hostels, in order, to allow students appearing for Board exams to stay during the exam period.

Tamil Nadu government has directed all the state-run schools to open the government hostels for students from June 11 onwards. This has been done to prepare for the Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12 exams to be conducted from June 15 onwards.

While making the announcement Education Minister K A Sengottaiyyan said that "the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has ordered the opening of government hostels for students from June 11 onwards. The decree has created opportunities for students to stay in the hostel.โ€

The Tamil Nadu 10th board examinations are scheduled to be held from June 15 to June 25. Earlier, as per the Tamil Nadu 10th Date Sheet 2020, exams were initially supposed to be conducted from March 27, however, due to coronavirus outbreak, they were postponed.

The Education Minister also said that buses have been arranged to enable students to commute from the hostels to the exam centres to attend board exams. The Minister said that each exam hall will allow only 10 students to maintain the proper social distancing measures.

About 9.5 lakh students have registered to appear for Class 10 Board exams this year. The Board will announce the Tamil Nadu 12th result 2020 and Tamil Nadu 10th result 2020 in July.

The exams were scheduled from June 15 after the Ministry of Home Affairs had allowed states to conduct the pending board exams while maintaining all the revised guidelines released by it.
