TN Board SSLC Exams 2020: Teachers file petition in HC demanding postponement of TN 10th exams

According to the petition filed by Tamil Nadu High and Higher Secondary School Graduate Teachers Association, the teachers' body asked the HC to order the TN government to defer TN Board Exams 2020 for Class 10 for at least two months. 

Tamil Nadu Board decided to conduct the TN Public Exam 2020 i.e. TN SSLC Exam 2020 from June 15 onwards. However, a school teacher association of Tamil Nadu moved to Madras High Court demanding postponement of TN SSLC Exam 2020 which the TN Board scheduled to conduct in June. The Tamil Nadu state government's decision to conduct the TN SSLC Exams 2020 in June is now challenged by these teachers who want TN Public Exam 2020 for Class 10 to be postponed for at least two months more.

According to the petition filed by Tamil Nadu High and Higher Secondary School Graduate Teachers Association, the teachers' body asked the HC to order the TN government to defer TN Board Exams 2020 for Class 10 for at least two months and to conduct refresher courses for the students for 15 days before the commencement of the TN Public Exam 2020 for Class 10.

The media reports suggest that the Madras HC would likely to take up the petition for hearing in June. The petition also adds that conducting TN Public Exam 2020 in the state would put teachers and others at risk due to increasing cases of COVID-19. The petition also states that it would be difficult for teachers to reach back to the schools in case they are stuck in their native towns without public transport.

There will be a total of 12,690 exam centres for TN Class 10 and 7,400 exam centres for TN Class 11 with more than 2.3 lakh invigilators assigned for the conduction of TN Public Exam 2020. Apart from this, there will be policemen, transport drivers and parents who will also be put to severe hardship due to the conduct of the TN Public Exam 2020.

Meanwhile, the TN Board released the TN 10th Date Sheet 2020 in May. According to the Tamil Nadu 10th Time Table 2020, the TN SSLC Exam 2020 would begin on June 15 and would end on June 26, 2020. The TN Board also released the TN 10^th admit card 2020 for the TN Public Exam 2020 on the board’s official site. 

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu state education minister, K A Sengottaiyanconfirmed that the Tamil Nadu 12th result 2020 and Tamil Nadu 10th result 2020 will be declared in the month of July. The minister said,  "Mostly the TN 10th Results 2020 and TN 12th Results 2020 will be out in July and it is impossible to disclose the exact date of publication of the results," he told reporters at Gobichettipalayam.

When asked about the reopening date of the schools, the minister said, the government will take a decision on the same after accessing the coronavirus situation in the state.
