UP Board will be taking a decision on cancellation or conduct of exams only in the second week of July.
Earlier, the Education Minister had said that the UP Board 12th examinations are expected to be conducted in the second week of July. The state board had also revised the UP Board Class 12 exam pattern. According to the changes made, the time duration of the exams has been reduced to 1.5 hours from the usual three hours. Moreover, students will have an option to attempt only three questions out of the given 10.
Meanwhile, the UP Board Class 10 examinations have been cancelled due to COVID-19. The same was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma on May 29. The students will be promoted to the next grade.
On June 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the CBSE Class 12 examinations have been cancelled in view of the safety of students amid COVID-19. Following suit, CISCE ISC and HBSE Class 12 exams were also cancelled. The central government has left it on the state governments to decide for their respective board examinations.
The UP Board is the largest board in the country with nearly 60 lakh students and over 26 lakh students in Class 12 alone. Students must wait patiently for the state board to announce its final decision on Class 12 examinations.
