West Bengal Board Exams 2021: No Selection test for Madhyamik, Uccha Madhyamik aspirants

The decision to scrap the selection test for WB 10th and WB 12th board exams 2021 is taken by the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

WB Board Exams 2021: The West Bengal Government decided not to hold selection tests for students scheduled to appear for West Bengal Board of Secondary Education Exams, i.e. WBBSE Board Exams 2021 and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education Board Exams, i.e. WBCHSE Board Exams 2021 in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The decision to scrap the selection test for WB 10th and WB 12th board exams 2021 is taken by the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. After the cabinet meeting, while talking to the media, the minister stated that these students will be allowed to appear for Madhyamik (Class 10) 2021 and Uchcha-Madhyamik (Class 12) exams 2021directly. Like other states, schools in West Bengal are also closed since the month of March due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, the teaching-learning process is still going on via virtual mode that online classes and digital classes. Reports state that many students could not take part in the digital classes due to lack of either smart phones or internet facility.

Meanwhile, Ms Banerjee also said that the Cabinet gave its nod to immediately initiate the recruitment process to fill up vacancies of 16,500 school teachers' posts from the 20,000 candidates who have cleared the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) examinations. "Students could not go to schools due to COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have also decided to start the recruitment process to fill up 16,500 vacancies from the 20,000 successful TET examinees. Interviews will start in December and the entire recruitment process will be completed by January. The recruitment for the rest of the candidates will be made later in phases," she said. Ms Banerjee said that offline examinations for the next TET, in which around 2,50,000 candidates have applied, will be held as soon as possible.
