The first annual management doctoral colloquium, ‘Shodh Samagam’ concluded at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam. The inaugural gathering was addressed by Chair, management doctoral colloquium, Dr Amit Shankar. Talking about how colloquium as a platform helps research scholars to seek knowledge, Shankar said that the platform ensures scholars learn new techniques and receive feedback from eminent academicians.

A total of 207 research papers submitted were submitted to the MDC from different areas such as finance, strategic management, marketing, human resource management, operations, and supply chain management. IIM-V faculty members from various departments selected only 50 papers for the presentation in MDC through blind peer review. These papers are authored by PhD students and academicians from top institutes, including many IIMs, IITs, and other premier institutes across India.

In the keynote address, Director, Centre for Digital Enterprise Analytics and Leadership (DEAL), Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University, Canada, Dr. Ravi Vatrapu, spoke about the best practices in the doctoral journey and takeaways from a career in academic research, the press note said.

Professors from eminent institutions took part in the colloquium and conducted academic sessions. Various sessions on qualitative research by Professor Mukta Kulkarni (IIM Bangalore), doctoral journey by Professor Vishal Gupta (IIM Ahmedabad), case research by Professor Sanal Kumar Velayudhan (Ex Dean, IIM Kozhikode).

During the valedictory, Director, IIM-Vizag, Professor M Chandrashekhar talked about the need for building strong research culture through such colloquium and conferences. Three best research papers were also announced and awarded in the colloquium by the Director. Velavan S (IIM Bangalore), Nishi Malhotra (IIM Kozhikode), and Satender Pal Singh (IIM Ranchi) received the winner, runner-up and second runner-up award, respectively.
