COVID-19: Gautam Buddha University opens quarantine facility
Gautam Buddha University has announced that it has opened quarantine centres on its campus which can accommodate up to 150 people.
In wake of rising in a number of positive coronavirus cases in the country, Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, has opened quarantine facility on its campus. The quarantine facility can accommodate up to 150 people who are either confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19.
The total number of positive cases reported in the country has reached 169; with 18 fresh cases and 4 deaths. Uttar Pradesh now has recorded 22 positive cases out of which five have already been cured. Maharashtra, on the other hand, recorded the highest number of positive cases followed by Kerala. The total positive cases from around the country include 25 foreign nationals -- 17 from Italy, 3 from the Philippines, two from the UK, one each belonging to Canada, Indonesia and Singapore.
As per the statement released by the Gautam Buddha University, Dr BR Ambedkar Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe Hostel-5 and Munshi Premchand Hostel have been made equipped to quarantine people infected.
The Uttar Pradesh government had earlier directed all the educational institutions in the state to close and postponed all the examination until March 31.
To review the quarantine centres at the Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Jay Pratap Singh along with District Magistrate B.N. Singh visited the university today.
In order to reduce the spread, across India quarantine facility for around 60,000 people have been created. The Centre has also directed all schools, colleges, and universities around the country to close their campuses and postpone their exams.
