Delhi University Open Book Exams 2020 gets nod from Delhi HC

DU Open Book Exam 2020: The High Court on August 7, 2020, allowed Delhi University to conduct the online Open Book Examination for final year undergraduate students. Earlier, the court stated that it is the University’s responsibility to provide scribe for visually-impaired students at common service centres (CSCs) for the online examinations. The CSCs are set up for those students who do not have the infrastructure to appear for the OBE. As the exams are delayed due to the pandemic, the court also agreed for provisional admission to students in PG courses.
Delhi University open book exams 2020 are scheduled to be conducted from August 10 onward. The students who could not appear for the exams will be given an opportunity to appear in physical examinations likely to be held in September. DU teachers and students, irrespective of their political ideology, opposed the OBE and demanded the University to scrap it calling it “discriminatory”. According to a survey conducted, around 68 per cent students have opposed the online exams.
However, the revised examination guidelines released by the University Grant Commission clearly talked about the importance of the final exams and stated that universities can conduct their final-year or end-semester examination in the month of September. Considering the guidelines, the higher education institutions are brainstorming to come up with ideas of conducting final year exams without putting the safety of students at stake.
Meanwhile, the University of Delhi launched its flagship platform ‘DUOne’ to provide all the study material and resources online at one place.
