Delhi University (DU) will release the DU first cutoff list for admissions on October 12. The varsity had earlier planning to begin the DU Admission Process 2020 from the first week of October, however, it has now decided to wait for CBSE to announce the CBSE 12th Results of improvement exams. Meanwhile, the varsity has also enabled the option for students to edit their forms from September 12 until October 5.
According to the report, principals have been informed that Delhi University is keen on starting the admission process from October 12. "The administration asked us to prepare for the admission process as it will be completely online this year," a college principal told media house.
Some principals were of the view that the session can be started in July when they were conducting the admission online. However, this delay in beginning the academic session will eventually put pressure on teachers to finish off the syllabus in time, a principal of a south campus college was quoted as saying.
This year, the Delhi University cutoffs are expected to be higher for the undergraduate courses as the varsity is receiving a large number of applicants. Also, the number of students who have scored 90 percent in their CBSE 12th Exams is comparatively higher than the last year.
Linking the number of applicants to cutoffs, several principals and teachers said they are likely to be higher this year. Compared to the last year, the number of students scoring 95 per cent and above has increased by 118.6 per cent and those getting 90 per cent and above by 67.48 per cent this year.
