DU lays foundation stones of two Student Facilitation Centres
Both the centres will start functioning from January 2022. DU is also mulling to open colleges and academic departments on these lands.
Delhi University acting Vice-Chancellor PC Joshi laid the foundation stone of two student facilitation centers at the University lands at Roshanpura Village (Najafgarh) and Bawana. The facilitation centres of DU will be completed by the end of this year.
Both the centres will start functioning from January 2022. DU is also mulling to open colleges and academic departments on these lands.
“These centres will facilitate students of rural and far off areas by providing them documents like mark sheets, migration and other documents at their nearby locations as well as inquiry counters to guide them related to University matters,” DU said in a statement.
These centres are being built to save the time and energy of students who have to travel to the North and South Campus of the University. These new centers are the parts of the 'University at your door' initiative of DU," the University said in a statement.
In August, the Delhi University had announced that it will establish a new college and facilitation centre at Fatehpur Beri. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was to lay the foundation stone of the college.
“The facilitation centre will enable the students of the University of Delhi, living in and around Bhatti Kalan Goan, to complete various administrative processes, including admission, examination etc., with ease without having to travel a long distance,” the DU statement had said.
Though the University has not decided the name of the new college, DU registrar Vikas Gupta had earlier said during a press conference that they had decided to name the new college after Sushma Swaraj, the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi.
