IIT Roorkee PhD Admission: Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee has invited applications for admission to its PhD programmes for Spring Semester. The admission process is open for candidates willing to get admission to PhD opportunities at institute's Roorkee and Saharanpur campuses.

IIT Roorkee online application can be submitted till October 20, 2026. The tentative schedule for written tests and/or interviews is from November 16 to 21, 2026. The concerned department, centre or school will inform shortlisted candidates about exact schedule.

How to Apply for IIT Roorkee PhD Admission 2026?

Candidates have to apply online through official admission portal. No hard copy of IIT Roorkee PhD application form needs to be submitted and physical applications will not be accepted. They need to register or log in, fill out application form, pay fee online and download a copy of submitted form for future reference. 

Candidates should verify all details before submitting IIT Roorkee PhD application 2026. Admission will be based on merit. Meeting minimum eligibility criteria does not automatically guarantee an interview or written test call.

IIT Roorkee PhD Application Fee

IIT Roorkee PhD application fee is INR 500 for GEN, GEN-EWS and OBC-NCL candidates. SC, ST and PwD candidates have to pay INR 250.

IIT Roorkee PhD Eligibility Criteria

Candidates with a master's degree generally need at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale. The minimum requirement for SC, ST and PwD candidates is 55% or a CGPA of 5.50. Also, those with a four-year bachelor's degree need at least 75% marks or a CGPA of 7.50. Relevant national-level examinations or fellowships may also be required.

Candidates with degrees from IITs and a CGPA of 8.0 or above may be exempt from the national-level examination requirement, subject to the prescribed conditions.
