Jamia Millia Islamia resumes offline classes for final-year PG students

The Jamia Millia Islamia has finally reopened its doors for final-year students of all post-graduation courses and resumed the offline classes after a gap of almost two years. While speaking about the first day, the JMI spokesperson Ahmed Azeem said that the first day of the resumption of classes was "successful". JMI has resumed the classes for students in the final years of 70 postgraduation courses. He further said that all COVID-19 guidelines were followed and it was ensured that proper social distancing was also followed inside the campus.
JMI also placed a banner to welcome the students, reading, "Jamia Millia Islamia welcomes final year students on the phase-wise reopening of University". Azeem said that ID cards, negative RTPCR reports were thoroughly checked at the gates before allowing the students to enter campus. "We maintained proper social distancing, documents were checked properly," he added.
Many students complained that they faced inconvenience due to the RTPCR reports. "They did not allow students to enter for several hours who did not have RTPCR reports but after persistent efforts they allowed us. It was quite chaotic," said a final-year PG student.
The attendance of students differed from course to course. "Several courses witnessed maximum attendance while in some courses, the attendance was quite low," he said. The institute is expecting more students to arrive to campus soon.
Following the improvement in the COVID-19 situation, the varsity had last month notified that the offline classes for final-year postgraduate students will resume from March 2 and for final-year undergraduate students from mid-March. The University also reopened three canteens from March 2 with the permission of the registrar.
