On Sunday, April 10, the JNUSU alleged that ABVP members had attempted to stop students from eating meat in the hostel canteen during the Ram Navami celebration day. The student union contends that the ABVP members had attacked students, including the mess secretary and began stone-pelting. Around 15 students were severely injured and were taken to the nearby Safdarjung Hospital. The administration also informed police about the clash.
As per reports, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) had organised havan at the Kaveri Hostel on Sunday on Ram Navami. The leftwing student group alleged that ABVP was not allowing non-veg food to be cooked, which is as per the set menu on the weekend, on the pretext of the puja. The issue over non-veg food started on Saturday itself, according to hostel residents.
