Jawaharlal Nehru University to organise Swami Vivekananda Youth Festival every year
Various programmes such as sports, cultural events, technical festivals, exhibitions, academic events, including lecture series, seminars, conferences, debates and discussions, will be conducted for students and prizes distributed to winners.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University will be conducting a week-long "Swami Vivekananda Youth Festival" every year, officials said. Various programmes such as sports, cultural events, technical festivals, exhibitions, academic events, including lecture series, seminars, conferences, debates and discussions, will be conducted for students and prizes distributed to winners.
While speaking about this youth festival, JNU Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar said, "This would immortalise the messages, thoughts and visions of this great son of India and spread the teachings of Swami ji among the JNU community, especially among the students," The JNU Executive Council also passed a resolution to constitute a committee to develop academic research programmes on Swami Vivekananda.
A life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda installed in JNU was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing earlier this month.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a life-size statue of Swami Vivekanandan in the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus virtually. While addressing the students of the varsity virtually, the Prime Minister asserted that people may have ideological differences but ideology should be seen supporting and not opposing the nation in matters of national interest.
In his address, Prime Minister made it clear that idea-sharing and the flow of new ideas need to be kept uninterrupted. Our country is the land where seeds of different intellectual ideas have sprouted and thrived. It is necessary for the youth to strengthen this tradition. Due to this tradition, India is the most vibrant democracy in the world.
During his address, he also said that the idea of AtmaNirbhar Bharat has become the collective consciousness of more than 130 crore Indians, has become part of our aspirations.
