Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has announced that it will be conducting its fifth convocation on September 30. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will grace the event as the Chief Guest and the event will be addressed by Dr Viajay Kumar Saraswat, JNU Chancellor. JNU Convocation will begin at 2:30 pm. Students can join the event from the JNU's Facebook page where it will be streamed live.

JNU Vice-Chancellor Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar tweeted: "The 5th Convocation of JNU will be held virtually on 30th September 2021. Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan is the Chief Guest. The convocation can be viewed at the following link: https://facebook.com/officialjnu."

During the convocation ceremony that will be conducted online, the degrees will be conferred to PhD students who have successfully completed their degree requirements between September 15 to October 16. JNU had asked students to register on the official website and submit their proforma by September 20 in order to join the programme. Students also were asked to submit a registration fee of Rs 800 through the online mode for the same.

As per the official schedule shared by the authorities, JNU Convocation 2021 will start with a welcome address and presentation of the Academic report by JNU Vice-Chancellor Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar followed by the address by JNU Chancellor Dr Viajay Kumar Saraswat, followed by the convocation address by the Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University reopened its campus on September 23 for the third-year PhD scholars. The varsity allowed final-year MSc and MBA students to return to campus from September 27. The JNU on September 6 had reopened its campus for final year PhD students.
