JNU MPhil, MTech, PhD thesis submission deadline extended by six months

Last year, in the month of December, the university had given an extension of six months until June 30 for submission of the thesis by the research scholars.

JNU Thesis Submission Deadline Extended! The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on April 15 announced its decision to extend the last date for submission of the thesis by  MPhil, MTech and PhD students. Last year, in the month of December, the university had given an extension of six months until June 30 for submission of the thesis by the research scholars. In a notice dated April 9, the university announced that all the terminal MPhil, MTech and PhD students will be able to submit their thesis by December 31 this year.

The official notice released by JNU regarding the extension of the thesis submission deadline reads, "In pursuance of UGC Public Notice No.F.1-10/2020 (CPPP-1), dated March 16, 2021, and in continuation of JNU Circular No. Eval./10/AC/2020, dated December 10, 2020, a further extension of six months beyond 30.06.2021, i.e. till December 31, 2021, has been granted for submission of the thesis by terminal MPhil/MTech/PhD students of the university, including students registered under 9(b).”

The notice further adds, “In addition, the extension will also be applicable to all other terminals M.Phil/M.Tech/Ph.D students, whose thesis are due for submission by 30 June 2021."

The varsity has also granted an extension of six months for submission of "evidence of publication and presentation in two conferences, wherever applicable". However, the tenure of the fellowship of MPhil/PhD will remain the same, it added.

Meanwhile, JNU vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar on April 12 announced that the varsity will continue to conduct the classes online for its current semester. Talking about JNU Admissions 2021, he said that the process may start by the end of April.
