The competition was marked open by Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Minister for State for Education along with Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Organising Secretary, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, New Delhi, and Professor Shantishree Pandit, Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
The National Research Paper Writing competition was launched by Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal at the Convention Centre in Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The competition was marked open by Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Minister for State for Education along with Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Organising Secretary, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, New Delhi, and Professor Shantishree Pandit, Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Dr. Joshi also serves as the President of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal.
The programme began with the welcoming of the dignitaries and Saraswati Vandana along with the lighting of the lamp. The poster for the competition was unveiled to the audience and launched on the official website of the Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal as well.
Chief Guest for the programme, Dr. Subhas Sarkar said that "Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s life needs more research and many new aspects of his life and vision could be unraveled through it. He said "Netaji’s life is an inspiration for our life, society, and country, especially for the youth of the nation," the press release stated.
He said Netaji’s India was devoid of any kind of discrimination based on caste, creed, gender, or region. He said Netaji believed that education is necessary for holistic development and emphasized two vital aspects i.e. human development and character building. He congratulated Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal for choosing the theme ‘Subhash-Swaraj-Sarkar’ for the research paper writing competition. He also elaborated on the governmental efforts in reviving the memory of Netaji in the last eight years.
The programme was organized by Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal-Yuva Aayam, Research for Resurgence Foundation, and Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. In a short speech, Professor Shantishree Pandit paid homage to India’s true first Prime Minister Subhash Bose who established the provisional government in Singapore.
She said that there is no greater revolutionary than Bose. Further, she said to the minister present that "JNU is as the nationalistic university as any other university in the country. Two of the JNU students namely Nirmala Sitaraman and Dr. S. Jaishankar are part of this government’s cabinet and even seventy percent of India’s bureaucracy is from JNU"
She also called for the decolonization of the Indian mind. She encouraged students to participate in the competition and dedicated the university to the cause of nation-building. Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, President, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal said that ‘Indian history has done most injustice to Netaji.’
