The investigation found that at the time of examination, several students filled incorrect subjects which were neither noted by the chief superintendents, not the students or the invigilators.
Osmania University has held the students responsible for mistakes in the undergraduate course results that were announced by the controller of the examination. Several students were found absent in the mark memo in spite of sitting for the examinations. After this, the university administration held internal preliminary scrutiny to determine the root causes for the new errors, which were ratified by the authorities. The investigation found that at the time of examination, several students filled incorrect subjects which were neither noted by the chief superintendents, not the students or the invigilators.
According to a press release issued by the university, there was an incongruity between the subjects offered and the subjects cited by the students when the results were assessed. This is why some students of Osmania University received memos as absent in the internal result. For example, students entered environmental studies in place of environmental science. As the online assessment and processing was automated for one label, the candidate’s online result displayed that he was absent in case the students mentioned any other label.
The discrepancies occurred in the marks allotted/presence or absence of the candidate for the additional skills improvement programmes offered in a couple of undergraduate courses. Two subjects were offered by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education. Many students were making a hue and cry over the issue for last many days. This is why the authorities looked seriously into the matter and after taking a due course of time, it came to the conclusion that students will be held responsible for their erroneous behavior.
