Pune University Exams 2021: SPPU to hold semester exams from March in online mode
The varsity will conduct the first-year session examination from March 30 onwards and the second and final year examination from March 15 onwards. Until now 3 lakh students have registered for the examination.
The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has decided to conduct the Pune University Exams 2021 in the virtual mode this year. The varsity will be conducting the exams for the first year to final year students in March. This year, around 6.5 lakh students are expected to appear for the examination. The varsity has opted for an online mode of examination owing to the coronavirus condition in the country and to avoid large gatherings.
The varsity will conduct the first-year session examination from March 30 onwards and the second and final year examination from March 15 onwards. Until now 3 lakh students have registered for the examination.
The first and second-year examination will be conducted by SPPU in Multiple-Choice questions format. The duration of the exam will be of one hour for each subject and will be conducted in MCQ format. The final year examination will comprise of 70 marks, including 50 marks MCQ and 20 marks descriptive, long-answer format exam. The total exam duration would be 1.5 hours. The final year students are already being assessed internally for 30 marks.
The decision was taken today in a special Board of Examinations meeting conducted at the varsity where the decision on mode of examinations and other details was taken. The meeting was conducted after thousands of students started the social media campaign demanding upcoming semester exams to be conducted in online mode.
Meanwhile, SPPU has started the online classes for postgraduate courses from January 28 onwards. The first term would begin on January 28 and would end on May 22 and the second term would begin on June 15 and would end on October 1 for all courses under faculties of science and technology, commerce and management, humanities, and interdisciplinary studies.
