SPPU Director asks colleges to accept exam forms without insisting on additional fee
SPPU’s Board of Examination and Evaluation Director Dr Mahesh Kakade wrote a letter to the colleges stating that colleges must keep the interest of the students in mind.
SPPU Exams: After receiving complaints from many students and parents besides some students’ organisations, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on Monday, i.e. May 31 instructed its affiliated colleges to accept online examination forms without insisting on payment of the remaining academic fees. SPPU’s Board of Examination and Evaluation Director Dr Mahesh Kakade wrote a letter to the colleges stating that colleges must keep the interest of the students in mind.
The official letter by Kakade reads, “It is mandatory for the students to fill up the examination application form online as per the prevailing system at the college level. However, it is observed that the examination forms filled by the students online are not being sent to the university by the institute/college without payment of the remaining tuition fee. We are receiving complaints from some students’ organizations as well as from many students and parents. Students who are eligible for the examination should not be deprived of the examination due to financial and any other reasons.”
SPPU Students must note that the examination for the second semester this year will be held between June and July 2021.
The decision to slash the additional fee came when students raised an alarm and expressed their anger on various social media portals. On May 28, SPPU opened the window for filling the application forms for the students of engineering. However, while filling the forms the students noticed that the practical subjects of the seventh-semester show backlog and an additional examination fee is being asked for the same. The students started inquiring about this with the colleges. But they didn’t get any answer from the Pune University. Also, the SPPU’s examination department could not be reached as the university was closed on Sunday.
