SPPU to hold exams online from April 11; detailed schedule to be released on March 25
SPPU has announced that it has decided that the exams will be conducted from April 15 and a detailed schedule will be declared on March 25.
Putting stop to the speculations on whether the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will be holding the exams from March 15 or not, the varsity has now declared that the exams will be conducted from April 15 onwards. An examination schedule will be released by the SPPU on March 25.
Earlier, SPPU stated that it will begin the exams from March 15 for theory papers, while practical examinations for the first semester were suppose to be conducted with the practical examinations for the second semester. However, the university could not appoint an agency to conduct the exam online. Hence, there was a delay.
However, now the SPPU's board of examination met and decided that the exams will be conducted from April 15 and a detailed schedule will be declared on March 25.
SPPU Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar said that the online exam will be conducted by SPPU Edutech Foundation, a company owned by the university. The 50:20 formula has been abolished and examinations for all courses and all years will be conducted with 50 marks in MCQ system.
Kamalakar Shete, Vice President of Yukrand Pune City, appealed to the SPPU authorities to declare the detailed schedule as soon as possible and plan the examination properly so that students do not face the same issues as last year.
Earlier, a group of students and teachers from SPPU had opposed the demands made by another group to postpone the first-semester theory examinations and club them with the second semester. The group wants the varsity to follow the regular academic calendar and conduct the semester exam on time. The students also want the university to declare the timetable for the first-semester examination at the earliest so that they could prepare for them accordingly.
