Human Resource and Development Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” is all set to conduct the third round of his live session on Twitter and Facebook on May 14 at 12 noon. The HRD Minister heard the plight of the parents and students during the first and second rounds of his webinar respectively. This time, the minister decided to come exclusively for the teachers and talk about the issues they are facing amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus followed by three phases of nationwide lockdown until May 17.

Nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the deadly virus COVID-19 led to the closure of academic institutions, suspension of classes, postponement of exams and delay in results. Educational institutions are not able to begin the new academic sessions and students don’t have results to apply for college admissions. The situation is stressful for the students but the fraternity of teachers are suffering too.

The on-going lockdown is creating a lot of confusion, stress and anxiety among people. In order to prevent the academic loss of the students, teachers are leaving no stone unturned to impart learning through various online learning portals, email, calls, websites and more. The major problem the rare facing during these difficult times is delayed salary or no salary. Despite the government’s directions, there are institutions that are cutting salaries of the teachers or not paying them a penny at all for all the efforts they are putting to continue the teaching-learning process.
