No change in CEED syllabus for 2026, the entrance test for postgraduate and doctoral design programmes.
IIT Bombay has issued official syllabus for Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2026, the entrance test for postgraduate and doctoral design programmes.
The PG level examination will take place on January 18, 2026, to be held in two parts β Part A (computer-based) and Part B (drawing and analytical writing).
The brochure confirms that the CEED syllabus for 2026 remains consistent with last yearβs. Part A will test candidates on visualization and spatial ability, scientific and practical knowledge, observation and design sensitivity, environment and society, analytical and logical reasoning, language and creativity, and design thinking and problem-solving.
These topics are designed to assess the candidateβs ability to approach design problems with a balance of creativity and analytical reasoning.
Part B will focus on drawing skills, creativity, communication of ideas, and analytical writing. Candidates will be required to demonstrate originality in ideas, proportion, perspective and composition, along with clarity in concept communication. This section evaluates both artistic expression and structured problem-solving abilities.
While the syllabus remains unchanged, IIT Bombay has expanded explanations of analytical writing and problem-solving in the brochure to give candidates a clearer idea of expectations.
Aspirants from engineering, architecture, fine arts and other streams can now prepare with a clear understanding of the scope of the exam. This ensures an equitable assessment for all design aspirants.
