No change in UCEED reservation policy for 2026

IIT Bombay has clarified no changes in the reservation policy for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2026.

UCCED exam has been scheduled for January 18, 2026, and reservation policy will be implemented during counselling and admission of BDes courses. It is offered by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Roorkee.

As per the official brochure, reservation percentages for UCEED admissions remains same with previous years, in line with Government of India regulations.

Other backward Class- Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) candidates have 27 per cent of seats reserved, Scheduled Caste candidates 15 per cent, Scheduled Tribe candidates 7.5 per cent and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates 10%. Persons with benchmark disabilities (PwD) have a five % horizontal reservation across all categories.

Additionally, supernumerary seats have been created for female candidates to improve gender diversity in IITs. The exact number of such seats will be decided during counselling. Candidates applying under reserved categories will have to upload valid certificates at the time of counselling, with OBC-NCL and EWS certificates issued after April 1, 2025, to be considered valid. It states, PwD candidates must have at least 40 per cent disability.

IIT Bombay in the official brochure has emphasised stricter scrutiny of category certificates this year to ensure fairness.
