The National Institute of Design is all set to open registration for the 2026-2027 academic year. Candidates are required to keep the required documents handy.
NID DAT 2026
NID will soon start the NID DAT registration for UG and PG programmes. The NID DAT 2026 registration will begin on the official website. NID DAT 2026 registration process is the first step for aspirants seeking admission to the B.Des and M.Des programmes offered at the National Institute of Design.
Candidates will need to complete the registration, upload documents, and pay the application fee before the deadline once the NID Application portal opens. The detailed information brochure/handbook for B.Des and M.Des is also expected to be released with the application form, providing key dates, eligibility, and exam guidelines.
Process of NID Application 2026
The step-wise process to fill out the NID application form 2026 is given below.
- Registration: Click on the registration link given above. Select the program of study, and then fill in details like your name, email ID, mobile number, date of birth, etc.
- Log in to fill out the form: You can log in to the account using your email ID and date of birth. Fill in all the required fields in the application form, including educational qualifications, contact details, and personal information.
- Upload documents: Upload scanned copies of your signature, photograph, and category documents as per the specified format.
- Pay the application fee: Pay the application fee to complete the NID DAT registration.
The application fee of NID DAT 2026 for the B. Des for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates is INR 3,000. SC, ST, PwD candidates only ned to pay INR 1,500. However note that the application fees for overseas candidates seeking admission to supernumerary seats is INR 5000. In case of the M.Des programme, the application fees for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates applying for one discipline is INR 3,000. If two disciplines are chosen, the application fee is INR 6000. Meanwhile, SC, ST, PwD candidate need to pay INR 1,500 for one discipline, and INR 3000 for two disciplines.

While filling out the NID application form, candidates have to enter their personal, academic, and personal information. They are also required to upload a photograph and signature, and caste Certificate if applicable. In case of candidates seeking admission under reserved categories, they also need to upload a category Certificate. PwD category candidates will also have to upload the relevant Certificate.
The category and PwD certificates should be in PDF format and max 2 MB.
Meanwhile, the photograph and signature should in JPG/JPEG format and within 75-100 KB.

NID application form 2025 opened on September 3, 2024. The application form is open online at the NID admission portal -admissions.nid.edu. Candidates who meet the program-specific eligibility criteria may apply before the last date.
The NID application form is for admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses offered by participating colleges.
The last date to apply for NID DAT 2025 is December 6, 2024 (extended from December 3). The candidate can also edit the submitted application from December 4-9, 2024.
