NIFT 2023 situation Test/PI in April, check details

The NIFT situation test is conducted for BDes candidates who have been shortlisted based on CAT and GAT scores. The final result of NIFT 2023 will be released online in May. 

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will conduct the NIFT 2023 situation test tentatively in April. The test will be conducted in offline mode for shortlisted candidates who have participated in the choice-filling process.  

What is NIFT situation test? 

The situation test /group discussion and personal Interview is the second stage of the NIFT 2023 admission process. The NIFT situation test is conducted for BDes candidates who have been shortlisted based on CAT and GAT scores. Appearing for both CAT and GAT written tests are mandatory to get shortlisted for NIFT situation test. The NIFT situation test is a hands-on test that will evaluate the candidate’s material handling skills and ability to come up with innovative ideas in a given situation with a given set of materials.  

The candidate has to build a model with the given material showcasing an innovative and creative bent of mind. The NIFT will close the choice-filling window for BDes NIFT 2023 situation test in the second week of March and for MDes, MFM, MFTech, shortlisted candidates can upload the documents till March third week.  

What after NIFT 2023 situation test? 

Shortlisted candidates have to appear in a case-study based group discussions (GD) and personal interview (PI). Group discussion/personal interview for the MDes, MFM, and MFTech programs will also be conducted in April 2023. The GD will be of 15 to 20 minutes and include a discussion on an assigned case study. A panel of experts will then assess the candidates on various parameters such as conceptual clarity, knowledge of the topic assigned, contribution made to the topic, interpersonal skills ability to generate new ideas, problem-solving approach, leadership qualities and effective communication. 

After the GD, personal interview will be held wherein the candidate will be evaluated on the following parameters: career orientation, aptness for the course, overall personal achievements in academics and co-curricular activities, communication, general awareness and aptitude, creative and lateral thinking. The final result for NIFT 2023 will be released online in May 2023. It will be prepared by giving weightage to the situation test/ PI and written tests (GAT and CAT).
