AICTE working on placement portal for Rural Engg College graduates
Many of the engineering colleges have closed down in rural parts of the country as they were unable to place students.
The Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Professor T. G. Sitharam has said that the council is planning to start a placement portal for engineering colleges located in rural parts of the country.
Many of the engineering colleges have closed down in rural parts of the country as they were unable to place students. AICTE Chairman said that the colleges did not understand the problem as jobs were there but they were not able to connect their children with companies around other parts of the country.
Sitharam talking about the job portal said: “Through this portal that we are planning we are hoping that students from these rural engineering colleges will register themselves and will be able to get jobs.”
AICTE Chairman said that every student has to go through an internship and 2.7 crore students have registered on the AICTE platform and on the same platform more than 70,000 companies have registered themselves. “We are ensuring that students from every nook and corner of the country get to do an internship, particularly from remote parts of the country,” Sitharam said.
Sitharam has called upon all stakeholders associated with skill development to come together to make India and its education system fully skill-oriented. While inaugurating the Industry 4.0 India Conference (I4IC 2023) organized by Employability.life Sitharam said that one of AICTE's primary goals is to eliminate language barriers and provide technical education to students in their native languages.
He said: “For the same AICTE has recently launched the AICTE internship portal to provide internships to rural youth. So far more than 2.7 crore registration have been received, 85 colleges enrolled and 75000 companies have shown interest to hire interns through this portal.”
He also informed that promoting online education, AICTE’s Ekumbh platform has received 1.5 lakh downloads across 47 countries. This call would ultimately result in imparting skills to the youth of the country to enable them to land the job of their choice and contribute to the growth of the country.
AICTE Chairman also emphasized that integration of primary and secondary education with higher education is required in order to make India’s skills initiatives fully comprehensive.
