The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, has made a subtle but important change to the BITSAT 2026 eligibility criteria. While most of the eligibility conditions remain unchanged, the institute has removed the clause related to candidates retaking the full set of Class 12 subjects.

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, has made a subtle but important change to the BITSAT 2026 eligibility criteria. While most of the eligibility conditions remain unchanged, the institute has removed the clause related to candidates retaking the full set of Class 12 subjects. This update impacts only a specific category of aspirants and clarifies who is eligible to appear for BITSAT 2026.

What Has Changed in BITSAT 2026 Eligibility?

Earlier, the eligibility section included a clause (c) that allowed students who retook the complete set of Class 12 subjects in a later year to be eligible for BITSAT, provided their results were available by the specified deadline. This clause has now been removed. While all other eligibility conditions remain the same.

What Does the Removal of Clause ‘C’ Mean?

With the removal of this clause:

  • Students who retake the entire Class 12 examination (all subjects) after an earlier attempt are no longer eligible for BITSAT 2026.
  • BITSAT 2026 eligibility is now restricted to those who are appearing for Class 12 for the first time in 2025 or 2026. Students who passed Class 12 in 2025 and are appearing for improvement exams in specific subjects only.

Eligibility Criteria That Remain Unchanged

For B.E. (Except Environmental & Sustainability Engg.) and M.Sc. Programmes

  • Must have passed Class 12 under the 10+2 system from a recognised board.
  • Minimum five subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, one Language, and one additional subject.
  • 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • 60% marks individually in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Both theory and practical marks are considered.

For B.Pharm and B.E. Environmental & Sustainability Engineering

  • Minimum five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics, one Language, and one additional subject.
  • 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics.
  • 60% marks individually in the required subjects.
  • PCB students must have Class 10-level Mathematics proficiency.

Who Is Eligible for BITSAT 2026 Now?

  • Students appearing for Class 12 in 2026.
  • Students who passed Class 12 in 2025.
  • Students appearing for subject-wise improvement exams, not full re-attempts.
  • Results must be available by the submission deadline in June 2026, as specified on the admissions portal.
