• In newer Tier-3 NITs, like NIT Agartala, core branches often accept candidates above 80,000 to 1,00,000+ CRL.

The seat matrix contains the following information:

2. Branch/programme offered
3. Institute code and programme code
4. Category-wise seat availability (Open, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, etc.)
5. Gender-wise seat distribution, wherever applicable
6. Number of vacant seats available in each programme

Candidates can follow these steps to check the seats available in CSAB participating colleges:

• Open the CSAB Special 2026 counselling portal.
• Click on the Seat Matrix link.
• Download the PDF.
• Search for your preferred institute and branch using the search option (Ctrl + F on desktop).

The CSAB 2026 seat matrix is a detailed PDF containing the number of vacant seats available for admission through the CSAB special rounds. These seats become available after candidates withdraw, fail to report, or surrender their JoSAA-allotted seats. Do not wait until the final hours to lock your options. Review your preference list several times. Check for preferences are correct, no duplicates, that unwanted colleges are removed, and that realistic backups are included.

Many students focus only on institute names and ignore branch preferences. Ask yourself what matters more:

• Better NIT branch, or core branch at IIIT?
• New program branch at an institute?
• Better campus with average placements?

Adding multiple branches or colleges without any strategy only makes the preference list confusing. Before locking choices, ask yourself:

• Will I actually join this institute if allotted?
• Is this branch better than my current option?
• Is the location acceptable?
• Does it offer good placements and academic opportunities?

Your choice order should reflect your actual priorities instead of expected cutoffs. Never place a lower-preference institute above one that you actually prefer just because you think it is easier to get.

For example:

1. Preferred NIT with desired branch
2. Same NIT with alternate branch
3. Better IIIT
4. Other preferred NITs
5. Good GFTIs

Any student who does not hold a valid allocated seat in the NIT+ system after the final JoSAA rounds can still apply for CSAB counselling.

Special Round Enrollment Fee (SREF) is to be paid by the candidates after completion of the CSAB registration. The fee can be paid using Net Banking / Debit card / Credit card, or State Bank of India e-challan. NEUT counselling choice filling closes on 28 July 2026, giving a ten‑day window to submit and lock preferred seats.

• Upload seat‑allotment documents on the CSAB portal.
• Pay the INR 5,000 seat‑allotment/acceptance fee via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, UPI or SBI e‑challan.
• Complete online reporting and document verification before physical reporting at the allotted institute.
