India has announced to establish the first Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Dubai as a part of India-UAE trade deal. This will be the first time when an IIT will be set up abroad. 

On February 18, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the UAE delegation led by Minister of Economy, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi. The deal was signed after a bilateral meeting between the representatives of the two countries.  

There are a total of 23 IITs in India, which are located in various regions of the country offering undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctorate (PhD) level programmes. IITs are autonomous public institutes of higher education and are governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961, which has declared them as institutions of national importance. They are considered as the premier engineering colleges in India,  

JEE Main 2022: Students to get two chances this year

Engineering aspirants seeking admission to IITs have to qualify for both JEE examinations – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). NTA has decided to conduct JEE Main exam in two attempts this year, i.e. in April and May. The first session exam is likely to begin from April 10 onwards.
