GATE 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is likely to release the GATE application form in August 2025. It is also expected that the GATE’s 2026 official portal will be launched soon. Along with the launch of the GOAPS portal for filling up the GATE application form 2026, the detailed information brochure will also be released.
The GATE 2026 application can be filled out in online mode. To complete the application process, they must provide their personal, educational qualifications, exam details in the GATE 2026 registration form. GATE is conducted for admission to MTech or PhD courses in India’s top institutes, such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, or top PSUs, such as GAIL, SAIL, IOCL, etc.

Who are eligible to apply for GATE 2026?

IIT Guwahati releases the GATE 2026 eligibility criteria on the official website. As per last year’s update, the GATE eligibility criteria include nationality, age limit and educational qualifications. Based on last year's data, candidates can check the GATE eligibility criteria:
Nationality: Indian nationals are eligible to appear for the GATE examination. Foreign nationals may also apply.
  Educational qualification:
  • Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master’s degree in any relevant Science subject.
  • Currently, they must be in the final or pre-final year of their qualifying degree are also eligible to apply
  • Those who have obtained or are pursuing their qualifying degree from institutions outside India are eligible, provided they are in the third year or higher of their Bachelor's program (in Engineering/Technology/Science/Architecture or any GATE-eligible discipline), or have already completed such a degree.
Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for the GATE exam.
