GATE 2026 photograph and signature specifications: The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati will activate the GATE 2026 application portal on August 25 at gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Aspirants can check the GATE 2026 candidate photo and signature specifications below required at the time of GATE registration 2026.
The GATE application form 2026 will be released on August 25 on the GATE’s official website under the GOAPS GATE Candidate Login 2026 portal. To access the registration process, candidates need to create an account on the GATE 2026 candidate login.
However, before starting to fill the GATE 2026 application form, which will be made available till September 25 (with regular fees) and October 6 (with late fees). Candidates need to keep all their details and documents ready. The GATE 2026 information brochure is now available on the website.

What documents are required for the GATE application form 2026?
At the time of GATE registration 2026, candidates need to have the following documents ready -
- Photograph and signature
- Valid ID proof
- Category certificate, Dyslexic, or PwD certificate (if any) in PDF format
OBC-NCL and EWS candidates are not required to submit/upload any category certificate while filling the online application form.

GATE 2026 photograph specifications
The admit card and scorecard of GATE will contain the photo uploaded at the time of filling the GATE application form 2026. The GATE 2026 photograph requirements are as follows
- Upload a good-quality scanned colour passport photo (3.5 × 4.5 cm), face covering 60 to 70%
- Must have a plain background with frontal face view, visible forehead, eyes, nose, and chin.
- No caps, hats, sunglasses, or tinted glasses; normal spectacles allowed
- JPEG/JPG format, aspect ratio 0.66–0.89, face 60–70% after cropping.
- Resolution: 200×260 (min) to 530×690 (max); size: 5 kB–600 kB.
- Face must be clear, not covered by cloth or shadow.
- Non-compliant photos may cause rejection without refund.
- Head coverings only for religious reasons; full facial features must be visible.
GATE 2026 Signature Specifications
The GATE signature 2026 specifications are as follows -
- Upload the signature in JPG or JPEG format.
- The aspect ratio must be Aspect ratio: 1 : R (R = 2.75–3.75).
- Signature area: 70 to 80% of the image in black or dark blue only.
- File size - 3 to 300 kB.
- Resolution: 250×80 (min) to 580×180 (max).
- Must be the applicant’s own signature.

- For Indian candidates - Aadhar UID, Aadhar virtual ID, Passport, PAN card, Voter ID, Driving License
- For international candidates - passport/government-issued ID/Driving License

Candidates must properly upload the documents to avoid the disqualification of their candidature. The last date for availing the GATE 2026 correction facility is November 6. The GATE admit card 2026 will be released on January 2, and the exam will be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15.

This year, 11 new cities have been included in the GATE exam centers. Candidates had the facility to opt for the exam center at the time of GATE registration. The GATE 2025 exam will be held on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025 in two sessions - Morning (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and Afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm).
