GATE 2027 Registration Fee & Eligibility Criteria: Check Category Wise Fees and Who Can Apply
GATE 2027 registration will begin in August. Candidates should check GATE application fee, eligibility criteria, educational qualification and other requirements before applying through GOAPS portal.
GATE 2027: Indian Institute of Technology Madras will begin registration for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2027 on August 14, 2026. Candidates can complete GATE application form and check fees and exam schedule at GOAPS portal. Along with GATE exam date, they must also go through application fee and eligibility criteria before submitting their forms.Â
GATE 2027 will be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027. The overall exam pattern is unchanged even after introduction of new Robotics paper and a revised syllabus. Candidates willing to get admission to postgraduate programmes and recruitment in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) through GATE scores must fulfil eligibility conditions.

The highest GATE cutoff score for NIT M.Tech admission typically ranges from 800 to 850 in the first round. Some of the top NITs include NIT Surathkal, NIT Trichy, and NIT Warangal, accept admissions with GATE score 800 above for branches like EC, CS, ME, and EE.
Qualified candidates have to register at the CCMT portal to participate in the GATE counselling. The counselling process will begin in June/July.
40 marks in GATE will approximately give a rank between 2000 to 5000 depending on the paper difficulty level and the number of registered candidates in that particular branch. Obtaining 40 marks is mainly considered average, opening chances to a few new IITs (less popular branches) and NITs.
However, rank for 40 marks in the Graduate Aptitude in Engineering can give a different rank value for different branches and disciplines. For example, 40 marks in GATE CSE can correspond to 9000 to 10000 rank. On the other hand, 40 marks in GATE ME, can correspond to 6000 - 7100 rank.
Advice to students who secured 40 marks in GATE exam: Better to apply in some state-level colleges or new NITs.

The cutoff is the minimum mark that is required for all candidates to qualify for the exam. IIT Guwahati announced GATE result 2026 on March 19.
GATE 2027 will be conducted over six days in February 2027. The exam will continue in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. This year's edition introduces Robotics as new paper and have a revised syllabus for several subjects. GATE exam pattern remains unchanged.
