IIT Kharagpur will announce the final results for 2019-20 academic year after July 6, the institute confirmed. 

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur will be announcing the final results for the 2019-20 academic year after July 6. Earlier, the institute had cancelled the end-semester exams in view of rising coronavirus cases in the country and formed a committee to evaluate students based on their academic performance. The committee was also given the responsibility to decide on the grading system, supplementary exam and department changes. 

IIT Kharagpur has declared the end semester results for the Spring 2020 semester on July 1, 2020. The Institute, which had earlier cancelled the end semester examination due to COVID-19 pandemic, had formed a committee to evaluate academic performance along with decisions on grading scheme, supplementary examination and department change. Close to 13,000 students enrolled in various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes were evaluated based on grades of mid-semester examinations, assignments, class tests, viva etc. The final results for the academic year 2019-’20 will be announced after July 8. I congratulate the student community and appreciate their cooperation,” IIT-Kharagpur Director VK Tewari said in a statement.

The institute is expected to begin the new semester in September, however, the decision will be entirely based on the coronavirus situation in the country.

IIT Kharagpur offers a wide variety of disciplines across 19 Departments, 13 Schools and 9 Centres of Excellence. Admission to its UG & PG courses is conducted through their respective written entrance examinations. To be eligible for admissions to IIT Kharagpur’s BTech programmes, candidates must comply with the eligibility criteria for JEE Main and JEE AdvancedHowever, this year, due to coronavirus outbreak, the JEE Main 2020 exam has been delayed and will now be conducted from September 01 to 06, 2020 in online mode. After which the admission process will be completed for those seeking admission in various BTech courses.
