IIT Tirupati Launches Data Science Dual Degree Programme; Focus on AI and Analytics

IIT Tirupati launched Interdisciplinary Dual Degree in Data Science, allowing BTech students to get MTech degree with one additional year of study.

IIT Tirupati Dual Degree Programme: Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati has introduced a new Interdisciplinary Dual Degree (IDDD) programme in Data Science, offering students an opportunity to earn both BTech and MTech degree with just one additional year of study. This newly launched programme, students pursuing BTech in any core engineering discipline at IIT Tirupati can opt for dual degree after completing initial years of their undergraduate programme. The course structure includes regular BTech curriculum along with additional year dedicated to advanced studies in Data Science.

This programme will equip students with analytical and computational skills required in today's world. The curriculum combines domain knowledge from students' core engineering disciplines with Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Curation, Data Visualisation and Research Methodology. Students will also have flexibility to choose electives from emerging fields including Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Time Series Analysis and related domains.

Research-Oriented IIT Tirupati Dual Degree Programme

A major highlight of this programme is its strong research component. Students will be required to complete 45 additional credits, including 25-credit capstone project, allowing them to work on real world problems and gain hands on research experience.

IIT Tirupati said the programme aims to prepare students for careers in technology, data analytics, AI and research. The interdisciplinary training is expected to help graduates develop expertise in data science while retaining strong foundation in their core engineering discipline.
