A recent online poll by Shiksha on MHT CET 2026 session preference has shown that most students (52%) are planning to appear in the April attempt of the exam. Check the poll results to know which session of MHT CET is likely to have more competition.
Shiksha recently conducted a poll, asking students which session they preferred. The poll received a total of 710 votes, in which students shared their preferred attempt. The CET cell will conduct the exam twice this year. Students have the option to apply for one or both sessions of the exam. However, there is no provision to apply only for the second attempt.
According to the results, 52% of students chose session 1, the April attempt. This means more than half of the aspirants want to take the exam in the first session itself. Around 15% of students said they are targeting session 2, which is in May. Meanwhile, 33% students shared that they are planning to appear in both sessions to improve their scores and chances of a better rank.

Why Students Choose First Attempt?
Many students prefer the April session because it is the first chance to secure a good score. If they perform well in the first attempt, they can reduce exam pressure for the second session. Students choose to appear in both sessions as a backup option. The authorities will consider the best score out of the two for ranking and admission.
What This Means for MHT CET 2026 Aspirants
The poll results can be interpreted as indicating that the competition in the April attempt will be higher compared to May. Students preparing for MHT CET 2026 should plan their preparation strategy accordingly. This year, the CET cell has recorded the highest number of registrations for MHT CET, both PCM and PCB, with over 10.9 applicants for both sessions. PCM sees the highest number of registrations at 7,32,268. Out of this, 4,52,931 candidates applied for the first attempt, while 2,79,337 registered for the second attempt.Β
With a large number of aspirants aiming for the first session, candidates are advised to practice as many PYQs and mocks as possible, focus on revision and balance time management to score well in their first attempt.
