MHT CET 2026 Poll Results Out: Students Say Physics Is the Toughest Subject, But There's A Catch

According to the poll results, out of the two thousand voters, 52% say Physics is the toughest, making it the most challenging subject for a majority of students. Mathematics came in second with 23% of the votes, while Biology received 17%. Chemistry was considered the easiest by most respondents, with only 8% voting for it as the toughest subject. But the interpretation is not this simple.Β

Why is Physics Considered Toughest?

Although Physics has received the highest number of votes, the results may also have been affected due to the MHT CET exam groups and subject selection. Students appearing for PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) have Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. However, students can choose either Mathematics or Biology depending on their stream.

Because of this format, every candidate taking MHT CET must attempt Physics, while Mathematics and Biology are optional depending on the group. This means Physics is faced by all candidates, increasing the chances that more students will vote it as the toughest subject.

Commonly asked questions
Q: Β  What is the difficulty level of MHT CET?
A:

As per the MHT CET exam information brochure, the difficulty level of MHT CET exam is similar to JEE Mains. Candidates are thus advised to prepare by keeping in mind that the questions in MHT CET will be of the same difficulty level as JEE Main. However, the syllabus of MHT CET is very less in comparison to JEE Main.

Q: Β  How can I prepare for MHT CET without coaching?
A:

Taking help of coaching is not necessarily required for clearing the MHT CET exam. Many students score good marks in MHT CET by self-studying, without help from coaching. To crack MHT CET without coaching, students need to make a study plan considering the time they have before exam.

Students can take help of online tutorials and videos from previous year toppers who have cleared the exam without coaching to understand their strategy. One thing that is required when students are not taking coaching is regular study.

Make a daily time table of study and devote at least 5-6 hours for MHT CET preparation. Students who are in class 11 or 12 can give 3-4 hours specifically for CET beside school studies. Students who have passed class 12 should also study at least 6 hours daily.

Q: Β  Which book should I refer to prepare for MHT CET exam?
A:

Candidates must start the MHT CET preparation from their class 11 and 12 school textbooks. NCERT class 11 and 12 books for Physics, Chemistry and Maths are also recommended by various subject experts as the best book to prepare for MHT CET as well as JEE Mains. In addition to these, you can also try Marvel publications books for MHT CET exam.

Another reason why Physics often feels difficult is that the questions usually require a deeper conceptual understanding, numerical solving, and application of formulas. Experts and students say that topics such as mechanics, electromagnetism and modern physics are usually on the tougher side. The poll shows that Chemistry is considered the easiest subject by most students. In MHT CET, the Chemistry section is seen as more direct and theory-based, especially in topics like organic chemistry and physical chemistry.
