CET Cell Issues Advisory on MHT CET 2026: Warns Applicants of Misconduct & Unfair Means
CET Cell has released detailed rules to prevent cheating and misconduct during CET examinations. The new regulations clearly define what is considered malpractice and list strict punishments for those found guilty. With this, CET Cell aims to ensure fair, transparent, and merit-based admissions through MHT CET.
According to the official notification by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, any candidate involved in unfair practices such as talking to others during the exam, carrying notes or using electronic devices will face cancellation of candidature. In serious cases, legal action may also be taken. The rules also mention impersonation, copying, mass cheating, and tampering with admit cards or ID proof as serious offences. Candidates found guilty of impersonation can have their candidature cancelled, and legal proceedings may be started.
The CET Cell has also specified that the use of AI tools and digital cheating methods falls under malpractice. Use of hidden cameras, screen mirroring, remote-access software, or any AI-based assistance during computer-based tests is strictly prohibited. Such candidates may be barred from the current CET and other CET exams in the same academic year.

If any unfair practice is detected, the invigilator will seize the material and prepare a written report. The candidate will be asked to give a written statement. A malpractice committee will then review the evidence before taking a final decision. The candidate will be informed in writing about the action taken. Candidates who are debarred will not be allowed to appear for CET during the penalty period. They will also not be eligible for counselling or admission based on CET scores. No exam fee refund will be provided in such cases.
The CET Cell has also warned examination centres to maintain strict CCTV surveillance and biometric verification. Centres found negligent may face derecognition or penalties.
