MHT CET exam undergoes major reform by becoming bi-annual from this year onwards. Maharashtra has become the first state to conduct the state-level engineering exam twice a year. The state CET cell will open the MHT CET registration window this month, tentatively. Know more details below.

MHT CET 2026 Registration Expected to Start This Month; Check Eligibility to Apply

The Maharashtra State CET Cell is expected to release the MHT CET application form 2026 this month. Following the trend of last year, the MHT CET 2026 application form is expected to be released in the last week of December 2025. Last year, the application form for MHT CET was released on December 30.

MHT CET 2026 will be held twice. This is the first time that the MHT CET exam will be held twice a year, in April and then in May. The state CET cell will follow the JEE Main pattern to conduct the exam. More details will be announced soon on the official website of MHT CET 2026 - cetcell.mahacet.org. Currently, the CET cell has only announced the MHT CET 2026 exam date. which is as follows:

Eligibility Criteria to Apply for MHT CET 2026

To be eligible for the MHT CET 2026 exam, candidates should fit into certain criteria that are:

Age: The is no age limit to apply.

Nationality: Candidates should be of Indian nationality. OCI/PIO and NRI candidates are exempted from appearing in MHT CET. Such candidates can apply for admission based on class 12/equivalent exams. Separate counselling is held for OCI/PIO/NRI candidates. 

Qualifying exam and year passing: Candidates must have passed class 12 or be appearing in class 12 in 2026.

Subjects and minimum marks in qualifying exam for BTech aspirants: Candidate should have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one subject among Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Computer Science/Information Technology/ Informatics Practices/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/Business Studies in class 12. They must obtain at least 45% marks in class 12. Candidates belonging to the backward class, Economically Weaker Section, and Persons with Disability category should obtain at least 40 % marks in class 12.
