The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has filed a police complaint after an audio clip allegedly claiming that candidates could secure a 'special exam centre' in exchange for money surfaced on social media. The incident has raised concerns among MHT CET aspirants and parents as the engineering admission process is currently underway. The CET Cell has taken the matter seriously and has initiated legal action. The authorities have also started an investigation to verify the authenticity of the audio clip and identify those responsible for creating or circulating it.
What is the controversy?
The controversy began after an audio recording went viral on social media. In the clip, a woman can be heard claiming that she could arrange a 'special' MHT CET exam centre for a large sum of money. The audio quickly spread among students and parents, leading to widespread discussion on social media and demands for a fair investigation. However, the claims made in the recording have not been verified yet.

No. There is no minimum mark required to pass the MHT CET exam. The only requirement to get the scorecard is to appear in all subjects of MHT CET and obtain a non-zero score.

CAP Admission Process Ongoing
The development comes at the counselling and admission stage of MHT CET 2026 engineering admission process. The final merit list has already been released and candidates are currently participating in CAP round 1 option entry and counselling. The round 1 allotment is scheduled to be announced on August 2, 2026.
